Physical Therapist

Patricia (Patti) Gehman has practiced with Health in Motion Physical Therapy + Wellness since 2002. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, she consistently seeks learning opportunities to expand her expertise and skill set. Most recently, Patti’s continued studies have focused on Women’s Health/Pelvic Care, visceral manipulation with the Barral Institute, and Heart Centered Therapy with the Chikly Institute. Prior to coming to Montana, Patti practiced in Arizona and Pennsylvania in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.

Patti enjoys supporting patients with a range of physical imbalances, injuries, and dysfunction; she’s particularly passionate about working with individuals willing to actively participate in their care. Her treatment sessions are guided by honoring the impact of the autonomic nervous system on the fascial network, structure, and form.

The study and practice of Svaroopa Yoga and Watsu bring presence, non-judgement, and embodiment to Patti’s treatment sessions. She is a gifted listener, both to patients’ words and the implicit language between; additionally, she observes alignment and movement patterns to piece together one’s history and presentation to develop a sustainable, holistic treatment plan. Patti loves helping patients realize their own healing potential and deepen their relationship with themselves. With both seriousness and a sense of fun, treatments with Patti have a lasting impact.

I have been a massage therapist for 24 years. I have been a registered nurse for 47 years. I took my first class from Dr. Chikly in 2004. I specialize in Lymphatic Drainage Therapy. I am certified for the treatment of lymphedema. I also work with the brain utilizing Dr. Chikly's techniques. I also use Alaya Chikly's Heart Centered Therapy to support my clients.

Mary Ellen graduated from Springfield College in 1992 with a master’s of science degree in physical therapy and received her doctorate from Boston University in 2005. She is a nationally certified lymphedema therapist and has other training in kinesiotaping, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and visceral manipulation. She also works with men’s and women’s health for pelvic issues, and has published an infertility case-series research study in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association and a lymphatic case report in Rehabilitation Oncology. She has also completed a randomized controlled pilot study for mechanical infertility. More research will be coming.
​Mary Ellen is the president and co-founder of Pelvic Health Research Initiative, Inc., a non-profit developed for the purpose of supporting clinical pelvic research, Evolution Medical Associates, and The Nourish Project. She has developed and teaches continuing education courses for other therapists through Evolution Medical Associates as well as The Nourish Project.

I have worked as on Occupational Therapist for 35+ years, initially specializing in working with infants and young children, then expanding into wellness care for All. I am a grounded, passionate healer who is also trained in CranioSacral Therapy and NIASZIIHealing. I have a unique style of working with the whole person.
